COMMENTARY:
In this verse eight glories are explained.
They are:
1. Glory of Satguru,
2. Glory of the treatise given by Satguru,
3. Glory of Self-realization,
4. Glory of an enlightened being
5. Glory of a sadhu,
6. Glory of peace spontaneously experienced by a sadhu
7. Glory of the supreme Brahmam and
8. Glory of Our children, who have assimilated the text 'The spontaneous experience of the Self as Brahmam' and
obtained the experience: 'We are That; That We are,' which cannot be expressed by even thousand headed serpent, Adisesha or Trinity of gods, either in a written form or in spoken words. This is true.
1. The supreme disciple, who assimilates and experiences the true teaching of the Satguru and becomes That, only can understand the glory of a Satguru.
2. The glory of the treatise can be understood only by the Satguru and supreme disciple. Others cannot realize it. None else can realize it!
3. The glory of Self-realization can be comprehended only by the person who has the knowledge of knowing oneself, realized it and become That.
4. The glory of an enlightened soul can be recognized only by the person who has shaped him to establish in the ultimate Truth. Others, whoever they may be, cannot realize it. It is not pos-sible to realize it.
5. The glory of a sadhu can be recognized only by another sadhu. Owr Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsadev narrated a short story to explain it.
Once a sadhu, while walking on the road, lost his con-sciousness. He was found leaning against a tree on the road side. In that state of absence of body-consciousness, he was enjoying the bliss of silence.
a. The sun started rising in the sky. A drunken man inebri-ated with liquor passing that way noticed the sadhu. His thought about the sadhu ran thus: Oh, here is yet another drunkard. I am also drunk. Only a drunkard can under-stand another. But, unlike him, I have been able to hold the liquor and not lost my consciousness. Therefore, I can reach my home safely. But this fellow will be dragged to the police station, when the policeman comes around here later during his patrol. He spoke to himself: 'I have greater con-trol over myself than this fellow who is completely smashed!' and went his way.
b. After some time, a thief happened to walk on the same road. He observed the sadhu through his stealing mentality. His thought was: He must be a sly thief; he may be even a murderer and a drunkard. Showering a volley of abuse on him, he spoke thus: Only a thief can recognize another thief; this fellow must have roamed around the whole night in search of an open house to steal. Now he is dead tired and lying on the ground. I will soon reach my house in safety. But, this fellow will be apprehended by the policemen shortly, when they come around here during patrol and they will haul him to the police station. He is a roughneck. I am very smart and have gotten away with my loot. Think-ing thus, he hurried away.
c. After a while, a sadhu walking along that way, noticed the other sadhu absorbed in samadhi state. The newcomer drew near the sadhu, looked at him lovingly and prostrated at his feet. Then he gently placed his feet on his lap and softly massaged them, thus rendering service to the holy feet. After a while, the first sadhu regained his body-world consciousness and opened his eyes with a smile on his face with the remembrance of Guru. He got up and prostrated to the newcomer. They conversed for a few minutes about divinity and departed. Though they were two with respect to physical body, they were united together in conscious-ness, Only a sadhu can understand another sadhu. Others cannot recognize.
6. The glory of peace can be comprehended only by a person of immense patience. Those spiritual seekers who have fully and perfectly offered themselves to the consciousness of the Lord and Guru alone can realize the glory of peace.
7. The taste and sweetness of Brahmam cannot be expressed in any form either through words or letters; it is also not possible to perceive It.
We can see a ripe fruit and write about its beauty. Can we see the taste of it? Is it possible to explain about the taste? Will the fruit remain after we eat it? The state of Brahmam is also similar.
8. Did you ask about Our bliss? We conclude this with an ex-ample. Once, a huge salt doll came out of the ocean. Its height and width were of awesome proportions. It had thousands of heads and limbs. Now, this salt doll stood on the shore and shouted, "Hey Ocean! People of this world praise you and your might in many ways. But I find you lying flat at my feet. Where is all your glory? If i stand in your waters, you cannot reach even up to my ankles, If I stir you with my feet, you will sim ply disappear, leaving no trace of your existence. Now, you wait and see how I deal with you!"
Shaking with silent laughter, the ocean asked, "You have arisen out of Us. What has come over you? Why do you raise such a commotion?" Blinded by fury at these words, the salt doll leaped forward to attack the sea. Lo and behold! It fell into the ocean with a loud noise and got dissolved instantly, leav-ing no trace of its separate existence. The ocean remained there in its blissful state; it is still there, abiding in eternal silence.
Our story is also that of the salt doll. There is neither glory nor criticism for us. We do not exists. The ocean of Bliss alone exists. There is no glory or bliss at all for Us. There is only one existence. That exists as Us!
There are many children of bliss of the Self who have studied 'The spontaneous experience of the Self as Brahmam' in right earnestness, dissolving their individuality and offering themselves fully to become That. Some children are still working hard on this path. The glory of Our children, who are content that this book is sufficient to enable them to realize That, cannot be expressed in words or letters even by the Trinity of gods or by anyone else (except this madcap). Thus We conclude this.
O vast Existence-Consciousness-Bliss; devoid of oscillation; eternal and attributeless; taintless; infinite; very subtle; substratum of all; devoid of all; blemishless fourth state; beyond the fourth state; untouched by 'T' and undivided; not apart from the Self; unparalleled; existing as Itself; all-pervasive; mass of Truth-Knowledge-Bliss; the void, the Knowledge of That; full of That; motionless as a rock; blemishless; ever without a second; mighty; eternal-Knowledge-Bliss; Truth-Knowledge-Bliss; complete and perfectly full; waveless ocean; like a motionless flame of an oil lamp; devoid of duality; form of pure nonduality; Undivided Bliss; form of One Undivided Essence. Glory to you! Glory to you! Glory to you!
With this We complete the text, 'Nidagha's Experience of Bliss - A commentary on The Spontaneous Experience of the Self as Brahmam.'
All is one! That is the form of bliss! That We are! That You are! This is true! This is true!! This is true!!!
