TRANSLATION:
Changeless certitude is the
unparalleled means,
For attaining the state of undivided Bliss.
As you progress more and more
in this exalted certitude,
The duality of the world and
such will disappear.
If the appearance of despicable
duality recedes,
Spotless Bliss will spontaneously arise.
Remain with fearless certitude,
Attaining, thereby, undivided supreme Bliss.
COMMENTARY:
This verse conveys the experience gained in the process of Self-realization. Unswerving abidance in the certitude: 'We are That; That We are' is the way to attain Undivided bliss! As you go on practising this certitude and as your experience deepens, the world of names and forms, so far appearing in your mind's eye as separate from you, will start receding slowly and drop away finally when the eye of wisdom starts shining.
For ignorant people, the world always appears with names and forms; the phenomenal world seems to move, give happiness and sorrow and change and disappear. However, for you who
have attained the experience of the Self, the world will not appear in your eye of wisdom
(not the eye of mind).
'The world will not appear' means: Evil tendencies which arise in your mind in the initial stage of Sadhana will gradually dissolve and vanish; Sattwic qualities will become predominant and the mind will be serene. If your experience further deepens, the world will appear like a sculpture or a picture. You will realize that all the creatures act as they ought to, in accordance with their Karma-s; your exalted vision will not perceive any distortions or problems.
Therefore, the worldly activities will appear as a puppet show (or like a movie) to you. Since the living creatures, trees, shrubs, herbs and creepers appear like sculptures and paintings, qualities of the world like wonder, or uniqueness, will not arise.
Bliss alone will be experienced with the understanding that worldly activities are like pre- planned scenes of a movie, wherein the puppets (living creatures) enjoy perfectly enacting their roles and then exit from the stage after their Karma-s are exhausted. Like switching on the remote control to watch television and switching off the control to turn it off, we can also watch or switch off the world as we like or as is required.
Here, the mind does not function, only wisdom shines. When our wisdom unites with the Divinity for a short time, we are in the Witness State. This is like changing the channels on the remote control from the world to the Witness State. When we switch off the remote control, we remain
established in the Transcendental State. This state of Undivided Attitude is known as Witness to the witness. In this state, even the movements of the Jiva-s so far seen as a puppet show, will not be perceived. Jiva-s will appear as puppets, made of earth.
As your experience grows, these puppets will disappear in due course, and everything (names and forms of the world) will appear as part of earth. With the deepening of experience, you will feel everything as a minute particle of atoms of Jiva, and later, you will spontaneously experience the same as your self-luminous Self. With further shifts in Consciousness, we will experience the ocean of bliss wherever we look with our eye of wisdom. But, we can experience this state only for a few seconds. If this experience is held a little longer, we cannot return to our normal state. Great beings name this state as 'One Undivided Essence'. No one can experience this ultimate state for a long period. This state cannot be attained if the grace of Sri Sadguru and the compassion of That are not united. Great beings do not make a mention of divine grace or divine compassion in this context, but they accord a supreme place to Sadguru's grace since he is the support for all demi-gods and deities, and he is the most exalted of all.
However, It is not possible to get rid of the mental notions of names and forms of the world without divine grace and divine compassion. It is definitely not possible to attain the Undivided State, Witness to all, unless we attain the Witness State, giving up the notion of names and forms of the world. This is an indisputable truth.
1. The state of a Jiva:
Is characterised by thoughts of merits and demerits and birth and death since the
mind is immersed in the enjoyment of names, forms and attributes.
2. Witness State:
All entities with names and forms are observed playing their roles and thus
exhausting the fruits of their actions in accordance with their merits and demerits.
This is like a puppet show. This is the experience of the spiritual seeker in this
state. Sattwic quality alone functions here. The enlightened being will not always
stay in this Witness State. Since this state has the delusion of divinity (Maya), the
enlightened being will descend to this state for awhile and realizing the nature
of delusion, he will not stay here permanently. Even though this state is free from Karma, it is a state of delusion; if the seeker leaves the body while in this state,
he will definitely get a good birth or temporary liberation (not Jivan-Mukti). This
Witness State is a Divine State. The higher state is the Undivided State (Attitude),
Witness of all.
3. Undivided Attitude (State)/ Witness to all:
The Jnani resides in this state permanently, which has neither the illusion of
names and forms nor the delusion of divinity. Both are absent. This is a fact. Eventhe appearance of the world as a puppet show will not be experienced here. In
this state, living beings like birds, reptiles, aquatic creatures and animals will be
seen as immovable sculptures or paintings! They will not appear as dolls, but as
clods of earth. Once this supreme state is achieved by a spiritual seeker, there
will be no birth and death. One will exist as the embodiment of Knowledge,
abiding in oneself. One experiences undoubtedly the feeling of That: 'We exist'.
The experience in the Witness State is like seeing oneself in a mirror. Being a witness to
all states (Undivided State) is the state of naturally abiding in oneself by oneself, without any agency!
In the state of a Jiva, the Jiva becomes the names and forms with thoughts, words and
actions. Here, the mind and its modifications are present. In the Witness State, one merges oneself with the Lord. Here, wisdom alone is present.
The Undivided State (Witness to all) is the state of abiding in oneself alone! (No second
person.) This is the attitude of one's own Nature.
These states can be experienced only in the order mentioned above, step by step.
Our blissful children!
You cannot attain the last two states unless names and forms and tendencies leave your
mind. External renunciation, without internally rejecting the names and forms, will not yield any result. We assure that those children who have total faith and conviction have already attained this state and have become Jivan Mukta-s.
YOU ARE EVERYTHING!
