Verse 26:

The Awareness of the Supreme will arise
Only to those who have,
by the endeavour of their minds,
Constantly persisted in Brahmam - practice,
And thus conquered the mind -
it is never easy for others.
This Awareness will come easily and
confer Bliss, remove sorrow,
Be the most auspicious of the auspicious,
And avoid all modifications like
birth and such,
And make one's Self the Supreme, the Existence-Consciousness-Bliss.

Self-effort or the effort of the mind consists of surrendering oneself totally to the Lord with the attitude: 'He is everything'.

If your Sadhana is through the path of devotion, then leave everything to the chosen deity having a name and form with the attitude: 'He is everything'.

If your Sadhana is through the path of Jnana, remain absorbed one-pointedly in that One
(abide in non-duality) with the attitude: 'Everything is one's own Self'.
You must have the firm conviction that,

i) in the former, there is nothing apart from the Lord, and

ii) in the latter, nothing is apart from you.

Initially, develop the attitude that you are the child of your favourite (Ishta) deity. Later, you will experience that you are an aspect of the Lord. In these two methods, there will not be any evil attributes as everything merges in the Lord or in oneself. If any evil attribute is seen in you, it means you are not following the chosen path to perfection. If any evil attribute is encountered in you, you are still clinging to individual consciousness and have not dissolved yourself in the universal consciousness. If the attitude, 'everything / everybody is We', is achieved, there will be no 'otherness', i.e. the division into self and non-self and this unitive vision will bestow on you contentment and peace. This is the effort of the mind and nothing else. If you reach this state of contentment and peace, the Undivided feeling of the Supreme can be easily attained by you. This will free you from sorrow. You will easily achieve beneficence. There will be no birth and death for you.

                   YOU ARE EVERYTHING!
